TP Link - Install / Flash DD-WRT on TL WR740N to make a Super Advanced WiFi Router

Welcome Back to a new tutorial of WiFi Router firmware. In our Previous tutorial we have learnt how to revert back to stock firmware from OpenWRT on Tp-Link and UBNT Bullet M2.
Here we will learn how to Install / Flash DD-WRT on TP-Link WR740N WiFi router to make a Super Advanced WiFi Router. TP-Link WR740N is cheap SOHO router and best for small coverage area.
DD-WRT is Linux based router firmware which convert a normal WiFi Router into super Advanced WiFi Router. A simple normal WiFi router has limited functionality in stock firmware. By flashing the DD-WRT the WiFi router is turn into Advanced WiFi Router open up many possibilities which stock firmware does not provide.
The DD-WRT flashed WiFi router can be configured as AP, Repeater, Range Extender, Wireless Bridge, Multi SSID, Multi Security authentication such as Radius, Enterprise WPA2, Captive Portal etc and many more.
The same method will work for other model of TP-Link WiFi router if their DD-WRT firmware is available.

    Let start with the business
The Tools and Hardware / software firmware you will need for this are

    DD-WRT firmware
TP-Link WiFi Router (TL-WR740N v4 in my case)
    Ethernet Cable (Cat 5 / 6 Cable)
    PC / Laptop (Windows 7 / 8 / 10)

    Install / Flash DD-WRT on TP-Link WR740N WiFi Router

    1. Download the DD-WRT Firmware for your TP-Link Router from DD-WRT Official Site

    2. Copy the bin files a separate folder for easy browsing

    3. Connect your router with PC / Laptop LAN port via Cat 5/6 Cable

    4. Launch your browser and enter 192.168.0.1 (Default IP of TP-Link Router) in address bar

    5. Goto System Tools -> Firmware Upgrade

    6. Click the Choose File in front of File and Select the factory-to-ddwrt.bin file (Downloaded Firmware file). Click Upgrade

    7. Make sure your router / Access Point  is connected to LAN port of your Router to LAN port of PC / Laptop via Ethernet cable (Cat 5/6 cable)

    8. Wait for the process to flash and reboot the TP-Link router (Do not turn off your Router during this process else will brick your router)

    9. Disable and then Enable your PC/ Laptop LAN to renew IP address as DD-WRT has different IP subnet than the previous.

    10. Now access the router from IP 192.168.1.1 (change the login / pass on first start)

    11. Now Goto Administration -> Firmware Upgrade and Choose the tl-wr740nv4-webflash.bin file and click upgrade

    12. Wait for the process to flash and reboot the TP-Link router (Do not turn off your Router during this process else will brick your router)
